Crux is a conceptual sports publication that focuses on the modern culture of climbing. The magazine aims to deliver interesting stories and information to both newcomers and experienced participants of the sport.
design GOAL
The goal for this project was to create a magazine that embodies the sport of climbing through an engaging visual system. The magazine is designed to look bold, modern, but also rough around the edges. A combination of bold headlines, experimental layouts, and an impactful half-tone image treatment combine together to make up the DNA of Crux.
WORDMARK
The main focus of the wordmark is the contrast between the rounded counter forms and the angular corners and edges. This creates a wordmark that feels organic but strong and rigid at the same time. These characteristics embody the sport of climbing.
